Lot 474 Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
AQS, signed “Henry W. Longfellow,” on a 7 x 4.5 off-white sheet, dated June 25, 1867. Longfellow pens the famous closing stanza from his beloved ‘The Day Is Done.’ In full: “And the night shall be filled with music, And the cares, that infest the day, Shall fold their tents, like the Arabs, And as silently steal away.” Sheet is affixed to a slightly larger card. In fine condition, with two vertical folds, one through a single letter of signature and some scattered light toning.
